Tricks Of The Casino

Every time you watch a gambling movie the thought crosses your mind that you might just have the talent to drop everything and become a professional poker player. More likely than not you would be very wrong. Contrary to popular belief, becoming a good gambler takes just as much time and practice as any other traditional job… and you’ll need an edge on the casinos to be successful. Join us, as we take a look at some tricks of the casino trade that might just help you beat the house next time youre in vegas.
Don’t Bring Your Credit Cards
First we should probably start with a few tips that might help you out at the tables. More than likely you are not a professional gambler looking for advice on World 5 List so it is best we inform you about some of the basics. Some of these might seem painfully obvious but there are many novices out there who just might not know the do’s and don’t of a casino. The first and maybe the most important tip is to only take what you can afford to lose.

Don’t Take Out Your Cell Phone

This is one of the less important rules for winning money but more of a way to prevent the casino from taking you outback and roughing you up. Casino etiquette dictates that cell phone use is either prohibited or considered highly suspicious. In many games you will be forced to forfeit your money if you are seen with a cellphone out at your table.

Track Your Time
Here is a tip that most people don’t think about when they are gambling. Time management. It is a pitfall that even the most skilled gamblers fall into. If you are playing a game or if you are at a table for more than 30 minutes and you have not broken even it is time to cut your losses and move on.

Take A Break
This goes hand in hand with the last tip. You need to manage your time as well as your mental endurance. Gambling might be fun but it can be incredibly intense and stressful if you are losing money or if you are playing a high stakes game.

Don’t Chase Your Losses
Chasing your losses is one of the first signs of a gambling addiction. This is when someone loses money while gambling and they keep gambling under the hope that they will win back their money. Many of these people don’t seem like they have a problem.
Never Play Keno

Keno is like the Nike of the gambling industry. It looks good, it sounds good, and they are on every channel in the world but they are just a bad product. Keno preys on the novice gambler.

Be A Vampire
One of the “shadiest” tricks that a casino plays on you is your natural attraction to light. Novice gamblers don’t often know where to start and they just let their eyes dart around the room until they see something that catches their attention.

Don’t Drink
When going into a casino it’s a good time to take up that vow of sobriety you have been putting off since your senior year in college. Drinking alcohol is what causes even some of the best gamblers to become some of the most broke gamblers in a single night. Casinos know that people are more willing to takes risks under the influence of alcohol so they make sure that it is flowing.
Counting Cards

Card counting is probably the most popular gambling tactic in the world. It has been around for over a century but was first popularized by the MIT BlackJack Team in the 90’s. After the team fell apart in the late 90s people still continued to count cards but the tactic fell out of limelight until the movie 21 which was based on the MIT team.

These have been just a few of the tips and tricks of the casino that might not help you win money but might just keep you from losing a bunch. Let us know some of your favorite casino tips and tricks in the comments below. Remember that gambling is supposed to be fun and there is no need to lose your life savings while trying to have fun.

A Short Tight-Aggressive Players Strategy

Monday, December 28th, 2009

As in the previous example, you hope for a showdown that is cheaper than if you’d check in and embeds a player with better hands half the pot. If the button K ♥-Q ♥ on their hands, and everyone checks him out, you can be sure that his bet will be greater than ¼ of the pot. However, if you apply a blocking bet, it is likely that only the button calls, for fear of the nut flush.

Now that we’ve looked at some situations, I would like to once again discuss some exceptions. As with all poker game features, you can not use the blocking bet every time. It makes little sense to apply a blocking bet when you’re dealing with a player who elects to call everything anyway (calling station). In such a case, you should try to get as much money as possible from him.

Just as it makes little sense to apply such move against a very passive player. It is very unlikely that this player is bluffing on the river or large your bed. If you think you’re lying back, easy check.

Another player would waste type to which I am not the blocking bet is a weak tight player. This player is often as much afraid of the flush card on the river as you attempt to bluff him, either from or to cancel a pot, because that player will only embed if he has the flush.

On the other hand we have the loose-aggressive player who is exploited by all means a sign of weakness on the River. If you have a good hand, that player is a good candidate for a check-raise.

Last but not least is the tight-aggressive player, a good candidate for this move. A check for this player could be a sign that you are not satisfied with your hand, and this can lead to a value bet, which is greater than what you would have otherwise paid for the showdown. As I said, the sense of blocking bets is to lose less money than when you first check, and then the bet are calling your opponent. How is the loose-aggressive player, even the tight-aggressive players are trying to push you out of the pot, if you check, on the River.
